Baltimore Sports Recovery is owned and operated by Drew Welch, Licensed Massage Therapist. Drew’s training includes Swedish and Deep Tissue Massage Therapy, Fascial Stretch TherapyTM, Myoskeletal Alignment Techniques, Orthopedic Massage, Myofascial Release, Clinical Rehabilitative Massage, CORE Myofascial Therapy, Advanced Sports Therapy for Injuries, Medical Massage, Contemporary Cupping Methods, Kinesiology Taping, Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization, NeuroKinetic TherapyTM, Movement Screening and Assessment, Postural Analysis, Personal Training and Corrective Exercise. Drew is a Level 3 Medical and Level 3 Fitness Certified Fascial Stretch Specialist as well as a Certified Sport Specific Fascial Stretch Specialist making him one of only a handful of people in the world to receive this level of training in Fascial Stretch TherapyTM.
Drew’s experience working in commercial gyms, sports medicine clinics, chiropractic offices and physical therapy offices has allowed him to develop his craft and manual therapy techniques for both the athlete and non-athlete. He travels extensively around the United States and internationally several times a year for hands-on training from those who are leaders in their fields. Drew has worked with Olympic Gold medalists, Olympic Bronze medalists, professional athletes in the NFL, NHL MLB, NBA and NWSL.
Bringing different modalities together allows Drew to view musculoskeletal pain differently than most therapists and he often combines different modalities to solve his clients’ pain and mobility issues. Drew is a graduate of the Central Maryland School of Massage where he was the first person to graduate from their expanded 750-hour curriculum. He also holds credentials from numerous institutions including the Stretch To Win Institute, The Freedom from Pain Institute, The CORE Institute, The International Cupping Therapy Association, Functional Movement Systems and the National Academy of Sports Medicine. He has trained under the former head massage therapist for the Washington Nationals. He has also trained at XPE Sports in Boca Raton, Florida where he received training in Advanced Myofascial Therapy from the General Manager and Co-Director of the Sports Massage teams for several Olympic Games.
Drew is also a teaching assistant for Erik Dalton’s Freedom From Pain Institute and James Waslaski’s Center for Pain Management. He travels around the United States and internationally to help teach Myoskeletal Alignment Techniques and Orthopedic Massage.
Drew enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter. If Drew had any free time, he would enjoy everything from hiking to whitewater rafting and anything that gets him outside.
